Recognition celebrates leadership, innovation and a forward-looking approach to growth

Ammar Al Assam, CEO of Dewan Architects + Engineers, has been named among Fast Company Middle East’s Most Creative People in Business 2024, joining a diverse group of leaders and innovators recognised for challenging convention and driving meaningful change across the region. Now in its third edition, the annual list recognises individuals from across business, technology, design, culture, government and other sectors whose ideas and approaches are helping move their respective industries forward. The 2024 edition featured 43 individuals across a series of categories celebrating different forms of creativity and innovation. Ammar was recognised in the “Rewriting the Rules” category, which celebrates leaders willing to challenge established approaches, embrace new ideas and pursue transformation.

In its profile, Fast Company Middle East highlighted Ammar’s role in guiding Dewan’s growth and expanding its presence across key regional markets, alongside the firm’s acquisition of a majority stake in Singapore-based hospitality design firm Design Lab. The publication also recognised his focus on sustainability, design innovation and the adoption of technology to improve operational efficiency and project delivery. His commitment to developing the next generation of leadership within Dewan, including through initiatives such as Dewan Young Leaders, was also highlighted as part of his approach to building the firm for the future. The recognition reflects a leadership approach centred not only on the continued growth of Dewan, but on ensuring the firm continues to evolve through investment in people, technology and new ways of working.
